Love Letter #6: Christian Bale

13 Jan

Dear Christian Bale,

I know 2009 was a rough year for you–what with your films being not very good and the assult charges and the angry yelling and such, but you are still one of my favorite actors and favorite man bodies to look at.

I especially like the one in the top right.

Like, I don’t know what you’re doing reclining on such a dirty looking sofa,  but you are hot manliness anyway:

Just about all your movies are great (I said just about, Terminatorheads!) and some of them are my all-time favorites: American Psycho, Batman, Howl’s Moving Castle (the animated Japanese one where you played an emo warlock with fab hair) are all the best.

I had this photo taped to my binder in high school.

Let’s hope 2010 has some better movies for you, and that no one interrupts your scenes, and that you get some roles where you actually get to be British, which is what you are.

I agree with you, jeez! Calm down!

Love,

Freckles

Oh, Christian, how I love him so. Ever since Newsies.

It is kind of funny that he never gets to speak naturally in any of his movies. He’s great with accents, though.

I agree; the best (fake) American accent in the biz!

Oh, Howl’s Moving Castle! Loved that movie. I fell for him at Little Women. mmm, Laurie. Count me in on him actually playing a Brit. Or, at least an American accent that isn’t all Clint Eastwood-esque gravelly (Terminator and Dark Knight, I mean you). I find it sort of repulsive.

Isn’t Howl the best? And awwww Laurie! Jo is the stupidest ever for turning him down! I haven’t seen Terminator (ahem) but his voice is quite disturbing and silly in Dark Knight…it is for a purpose though…but I KNOW! He should have just used his British accent to disguise his voice! Then everyone would think Batman was Brititsh and they’d never suspect Bruce Wayne! Next Batman movie: problem solved.

    Heh, here’s hoping!

    And yes, dirty couch.

Oh lord, i just posted an ode to Christian as well!

    Serious eye candy.

Sometimes I watch American Psycho just for the stretching scene at the beginning. What is this guy doing? Then suddenly he’s all skinny in the Machinist and then back to the muscles in Batman Begins? I haven’t seen Terminator 4 and I doubt I ever will, so for me Bale still maintains his perfect record with me. There’s not one movie with him in that I don’t enjoy.

Sorry about not posting for so long. I had a little opinion stating fatigue. But of course I’ve been reading your blog regularly. Hey, I don’t even know your name.

    • itsfreckles January 15, 2010 at 3:07 pm #

Opinion fatigue is the worst. So unpredictable. I haven’t seen Terminator either (or Public Enemies, which I heard wasn’t that great) so Christian is doing great with me as well.

The name’s Rachel; nice to meet you!

Oh man, Kinski is great. Effin bananas but totally great. You should watch Nosferatu right now. He looks already pretty creepy as is but in makeup he really freaks me out. Nosferatu and Fitzcarraldo are his best movies imo.

I can’t wait for Inception. A movie written and directed by Christopher Nolan is already enough to get my ass into a theater but it’s also got Ellen Page. DiCaprio is still doing nothing for me. I just can’t get over that whole Titanic thing although he’s been in some good movies since then. And I also want to see Shutter Island.

Have you seen Ponyo? The original voice-over is so adorable I think my brain would throw up if I had to watch it dubbed. I get what you’re saying but I would just watch those movies a second time to marvel at the animation.

Nice to meet you, too btw 😀 My name’s Matze, which is a kinda sloppy sounding shortened form of Matthew.

I haven’t seen Ponyo yet, actually. I will wait for the dvd to come out. 😦

I actually didn’t like Christian Bale ’till Howl’s Moving Castle(best movie/book ever!) And he was pretty good in 3-10 to Yuma, even though I didn’t like it that much. Even though he kinda seems like a baby in real life, I have found a new love for him, lol! Hoping he does better this year!
    (Batman voice, :P)

I think he’s become something like a new Klaus Kinski. He’s a great actor, will never get the recognition he deserves and he’s a total ass in real life. Doesn’t make me like him less. Have you seen The Prestige? One of my favorite movies although that might have more to do with Christopher Nolan being the director. I didn’t even know he was in Howl’s Moving Castle. I feel weird watching Studio Ghibli movies in anything else than Japanese.

      • itsfreckles January 15, 2010 at 3:19 pm #

Oh yes, the Prestige was wonderful. I’m sure it was great primarily due to Nolan, definitely. (I bet you are dying for Inception to come out, huh?) For anything live action I always frown upon dubbing, but with the Miyazaki films it’s kinda nice so I can get a better look at the animation.

And you just educated me on an actor I had never heard of, but looks all kinds of awesome:

He seems like a baby in real life? That is perhaps the funniest thing anyone has ever said about him! Good job!

      And Howl rocks!
